Many a thing has been said, written and portrayed of the magic (and calamities) of roadtrips. From John Steinbeck‘s gloom and doom depiction of reality to the maniacal catharsis in Cameron Crowe‘s Elizabethtown, the road trip has been deconstructed, parodied, and, pardon me, well-trodden.

Now, if there’s one element that really separates a proper road trip from a long drive with nothing to think about, it’s the music. I prepared a list of 556 songs for a recent road trip and here’s a quick selection of songs to listen while avoiding cyclists, Prius enthusiasts and a long drop into the ocean.
