Red Nightfall – Red Nightfall

Each Red Nightfall song starts off like the morning sun gently nudging you out of bed, your mind still one foot in the doorway of dream land. The soothing vocals and creative bass lines set a mood perfect for daydreams, in fact this is exactly what it did. I put my headphones on, turned the album up and laid in bed. I listened to each word, each instrumental letting it flow into me. I looked at my clock and 3 hours had passed.

The collection of songs is more of a soundtrack than an album. The background of a tragedy, a love story, a flight of birds. I suppose most reviewers would complain about the similarities in songs, how each song blend together into one song. I however enjoyed listening to an entire album that was able to keep me in the same mood. It wasn’t a feeling of helplessness or anything somber, it was more reflective and therapeutic.

The beginning of each song brings up emotions you may have forgotten but as the song progresses and quickens you move through those feelings, they slide off of you and calm sets in. Another song begins, another emotion, the roller coaster continues. Overall I think the band has created something lovely. The vocals flow into the instrumentals quite perfectly and each song is as lovely as the last.

If you need a relaxing soundtrack for writing, painting, on a long walk, to sleep to, for daydreaming, while making love, during a bath, a trip through the mountains or to decompress then I would recommend this album.
