Slowcoaches – Complex
After last year’s brutal Nothing Gives, Slowcoaches come back with a savage track, ‘Complex’. The slow build-up is akin to getting a late night notification in a quake app: something comes and it will rattle the place. The lesson from the track? That’s for you to find, but here’s my take: Be wary of “nice guys” bearing gifts, for theirs is the kingdom of deceit. Limited 7″ available here.

Nnux – Día

Nnux, the brand new venture by Anú López (formerly of Jvne), is ready to go with a brand new EP. The first single, ‘Día’, flourishes amidst cascades of electronica-rich sine and cosine waves, each one bringing layers of glitches, chimes, and brass. Deceptively pop, it reveals a fiercer side once it sheds its skin. Another round coming up, surely?

The Hot Soles – How Low
The slow dripfeed continues for the mythical Hot Soles, who continue to tease us with an album in a wait that feels as long as Chinese Democracy but which we already know will deliver a better result. Proof? ‘How Low’, a track that jumps back and forth between a zone of deadly silence and a thunderous cascade of rapturous soul music.
