URSS bajo el árbol (or USSR beneath/below/under the tree) is a band from México specialising on experimental rock. Their sound is dreamy, but more on the nightmare side of the scale, with a heavy use of effects.

They’ve released a vinyl EP this year, with all songs recorded live. With a lot of magical realism added to their lyrics and some very interesting musical ideas (check the intro to ‘In5omnium’), URSS bajo el árbol is one of the several new bands that México has to offer.

Anyways, here’s the scary sounding ‘Hombr3 Esqu3l3to’, which sounds like Día de muertos gone wrong (or right, if you’re Vincent Price).
