Electric Tape Recorder @ Old No. 7

Electric Tape Recorder is back in action after a spot of resting. With newer material (the only oldie they played was ‘Blackwave’) being played to a small but engaged audience at the filing cabinet of rock called Old No. 7, they seemed ready to put their rocking hats on.

The voice got lost a few times in the mix, mostly in the beginning, but got better later. Feedback was present throughout, though, but with a small venue and a very noisy band, you can expect it. There were some interesting things with feedback while playing, though.

Drumming-wise, it’s always enjoyable to see a drummer having a lot of fun and Craig seemed to be in a cheerful mood. Singer & guitarrist Phil was deadpanning some of the great lyrics (some dark humour there, I think) so it was all good. .

Still, it’s nice to see Electric Tape Recorder back in action, here’s hoping they get some of their new stuff laid out on record.

DJ duties were carried out by Terence Trent D’Barndance (that’s 50% of Wet Nuns, yo!)  and Nick Pears with a good selection of ditties for your listening pleasure.
