Best of 2010 – Awards

We usually don’t hand out awards and trophies and, well, we won’t start now as we are as skint as a pisshead after a one of those “pound a shot” nights at Corp.

So, without any further ado, here’s some general blog-like nastiness. Don’t take it too seriously, though…

The “That’ll do” award for their albums released in 2010.

Interpol, Kings of Leon, Alkaline Trio, Band of Horses, Minus The Bear (songs are brilliant live, though), Stone Temple Pilots.

Villain of the year award

A four way tie between Nick Clegg A.K.A. ‘The Grinch’ (Ok, so no politics normally but we’ll allow this one! – Misky), Wyclef Jean (using charity funds for studio time and bubbly = arsehole), Jimmy Carr  and Courtney Love (still making a living out of a corpse).

Heroes of the year

Tom Findlay and Andy Cato, standing up to Kings of Leon and their diva like behaviour. (link)

Underrated genre of the year

Rock. Pure, unadulterated rock.

The “Happy Meal” award for serving the same dish again and again

(tie) Beady Eyes, Black Eye Peas, Muse.

The “Where’s the tribute to this genius?” award

Harvey Pekar. Seriously.

The “I’m pretty sure he’s the creator of the Daleks” award.

Steve Jobs and his Macleks.

The “Courtney Love” lifetime award for making a career out of the dead body of your husband

(tie) Courtney Love, Yoko Ono.

More in need of medication before logging into Twitter

Kanye West.

‘I wish I hadn’t wasted 2 hours of my life on this’ award.

Sex & The City 2, X-Factor, Remember Me, Jonah Hex, Avatar.

‘Please take a long holiday’ award.

Muse (and stay away of tween vampire stories), Black Eyed Peas, Kings of Leon, U2, the editors of this blog.

Bands we are going to miss.

The Depreciation Guild, The King Left, The Constantines, Plush ‘n’ Plastix, Finch, Supergrass and of course, Doves.
